"DEAD MAN DOWN" opens Fri., March 8, 2013. Stars: Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terence Howard, Dominic Cooper, F. Murray Abraham and Armand Assante. Directed by Niels Arden Oplev ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" (original)).
Victor (Farrell), a rising gangland player, has infiltrated the crime empire of Alphonse (Howard), bent on revenge. Beatrice (Rapace) is watching Victor while he is watching her. She, too, is bent on revenge. When they finally hook up, they devise a plan so violent and cathartic it could change their worlds forever.
Colin Farrell has starred or co-starred in several darkly dramatic films, expertly playing characters that are slightly off-center. "In Bruges" is the film that is most often cited as truly establishing his real talent but he's always had some interesting roles. "Minority Report", "Phone Booth", "S.W.A.T." and the remakes "Fright Night" and "Total Recall" have all lent credence to his ability to delve into a character's psyche and uncover those off-center bits.
Noomi Rapace portrayed Lisbeth Salander in the Milllenium Series trilogy "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest". The books, written by Stieg Larsson, were powerful, addictive and emotionally draining. Rapace brought Lisbeth to life with a gripping portrayal so moving it was like watching it happen live She is the perfect casting choice to go up against Farrell in this production. Rapace will reprise her role in the sequel to "Prometheus" ("Prometheus 2: Paradise") which will be released in 2014.
