"The Giant Spider", a film by Christopher R. Mihm, 7:30 p.m., May 22, 2013, The Heights Theater, 3951 Central Av. NE, Columbia Heights, MN, $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
This is the official announcement. Tickets have been on sale since Feb. 21, 2013, and are selling fast. There is no guarantee that there will be any day-of tickets available. Anyone who wants to be a part of the premiere should go to www.sainteuphoria.com and order tickets immediately. There will be other screenings throughout the year but only one premiere. The trailer is available on this site.
The evening includes hand-picked era-appropriate newsreels, classic trailers, appearances by most (if not all) of the cast and crew, free cake, autographs, a silent auction and organ music from the WCCO Mighty Wurlitzer. DVDs, posters and other merchndise will also be on sale. It is a unique experience which gives fans and actors a unique chance to interact in a social setting.
It's rumored that the spider will be in attendance. In the event that this actually happens, please remember that this is not a petting zoo. Like all actors, Mr. Spider is a sensitive artist who shies away from the thought of 400 people touching him. He will also decline requests for autographs. Attendees are asked to extend the same courtesy to live actors as well. They will sign autographs but please refrain from touching them.
