Thank God it's over: The rational world has again survived the institution of idiocy known as the Oscars. It's all one giant crock of horse doody as evidenced by the snubbing of Stephen Spielberg.
A group of relics within the Academy do not like him so no matter how perfect a job Spielberg did with "Lincoln" he was never going to win. This is childish, petty and stupid, rendering any decision made by this group questionable. No matter how unlikable Spielberg is or isn't, it's the quality of his work that matters to those of us who will never meet him.
Also to be noted is the blind acceptance by the Academy of Ben Affleck's blatant lie at the end of "Argo". Those of us who actually remember the events described know the truth of the situation and realize that Affleck's revisionist history is a lie. A lie is a lie is a lie and no sugar-coating makes it anything else. The Academy will accept a lie but not a great director? Rubbish. It is this credibility gap that renders their presentation ridiculous and absurd.
"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2": Sony Pictures has revealed the first poster from this sequel. It will be directed by Cody Cameron, a story artist on the first installment who also worked on "Shrek". Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris and Kristen Schaal lend their voices to the film which opens Sept. 27, 2013.
"Rio 2": The hilarious romp through the jungle will have a sequel with much of the core cast returning. Andy Garcia, Kristen Chenoweth and Bruno Mars are among the newbies. The story will pick up with Blu and Jewel and their three hatchlings deciding to head deeper into the Amazon so the kids can learn to live like real birds. Naturally, Blu will have many problems with this decision. A spring 2014 release is scheduled.
