"SNITCH" opens Feb. 22, 2013. Stars: Dwayne Johnson, Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, Barry Pepper, Melina Kanakaredes, Susan Sarandon. Director: Ric Roman Waugh ("Felon", director; stuntman on "Last Action Hero", "Days of Thunder", "Total Recall").
A father (Johnson) goes undercover for the DEA in order to free his son who was imprisoned after being set up in a drug deal.
Although the DEA 'probably' doesn't recruit in this manner, it would be difficult to decline the services of a guy built like Johnson (The Rock). If ever there was anyone who could inspire honesty from a criminal it's got to be him. When the director is also an ace stuntman, it can only bode well for the action sequences.
Johnson has appeared several times on the KQRS-FM morning show locally. He has revealed himself to be a soft-spoken nice guy, a family man and a man who doesn't take himself so seriously as to be obsessed. He is easily one of the most likable guests to appear on that program and always emphasizes hard work and dedication.
Considered one of the best competitive wrestling champions ever, Johnson has made a name for himself as an actor as well. His role as Mathayus in "The Mummy Returns" (2001) and "The Scorpion King" (2002) got his career off to an incredible start. Since then he has been equally fearless in his choices of roles. He will appear in three more films this year and will portray Hercules in the 2014 film "Hercules: The Thracian Wars".
"Snitch" also features the talents of Melina Kanakaredes, Detective Stella Bonasera from 'CSI:NY'. She spent six glorious seasons working alongside Gary Sinese before stepping aside. A native of Akron, Ohio, she has done some wonderful work, mostly on television, and this is her first role since playing Athena in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" in 2010.
