When Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last desperate stand.

This film was widely and wildly promoted at the 2013 Comic-con in San Diego. Now that it's in theaters everywhere, the reception is even better than predicted. It's being hailed as the best Marvel film yet and is expected to clean up at the box office. For all of us nerds who are constantly trashed by the falsely-superior morons, it's the best possible news as this genre of film continues to crush all that serious dramatic crud into dust.

This film, a comic book come to life, is better than the comic book. Zoe Saldana looks great in green body make-up although she looked better in the blue she had applied for "Avatar". Still, you gotta love a girl who's willing to sit for all that time to get into costume.

The rest of the cast is as solid as any Marvel adventure team. Stan Lee has a cameo as a Xandarian ladies' man, Nathan Fillion (Firefly) plays an inmate and Rob Zombie is the voice of the Ravager Navigator. This is fun to the nth degree and will establish the sequel which is intended for 2017. DVD/Blu-ray sales should be through the roof.

"GET ON UP" from Universal; Directed by Tate Taylor ("The Help"); starring Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis and Jill Scott.

The story of James Brown, the godfather of soul, produced by Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer.
