Info 101: Movieclips 181: There's something special about draft day

Kevin Costner switches from baseball to football for his latest sports flick.
2014: Summit Entertainment: non-free use of poster to promote product with no intent to compete with or hinder copyright owner in any way.

"DRAFT DAY" from Summit Entertainment opens Fri., April 11, 2014.

STARRING: Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Ellen Burstyn, Sam Elliott and Terry Crews.

DIRECTOR: Ivan Reitman ("Ghostbusters", "Stripes")

SYNOPSIS: On the day of the NFL draft, General Manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the #1 pick. He must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.

With nearly complete cooperation from the NFL, this promises to be a fairly accurate depiction of what this day is really like. The young men who declare themselves eligible for this draft all have high expectations and big dreams not knowing which team will draft them. There is much wheeling and dealing as teams trade picks, cash and promises to get the players they want. Right in the center of it all is Kevin Costner, a veteran of sports films and one of the best dramatic actors in the business.

Costner's main interest is baseball. His credits include "Bull Durham", "Field of Dreams", "Chasing Dreams", "For Love of the Game" and "The Upside of Anger". "Bull Durham" is consistently ranked as one of the best sports films of all time and his performance one of his most memorable. Football is a different animal altogether but the dynamics of human involvement aren't that different. Costner can easily handle playing a wheeler-dealer.

This timely offering is well-placed due to its proximity to the real draft day and it is set to compete with "Rio 2". Have fun choosing but no one can lose this weekend.
