SYNOPSIS: The story of Emmett, a completely ordinary rules-following LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmett is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
You have to think beyond the massive merchandise promo this film is in reality. They've already sold enough LEGOs to build a new Earth, above and beyond the Star Wars tie-ins of yesteryear. This movie has been in the works since 2008 and it's now two days away from hitting the big screens in a big way. It is so worth the wait.
This is as close to being a brand new concept as will likely be seen in many of our lives. It employs computer animation and stop-motion techniques to deliver a magnificent and very funny presentation that everyone can enjoy--especially those who've owned one or more sets of LEGOs. The directing team of Lord and Miller have outdone themselves with this ultra-creative effort.
Not only will this put a major dent in the available supply of plastic but many fans will buy two copies of the DVD/Blu Ray package--one for themselves and one for their kids. This may not end up being the best film of the year but it will be one of the highest grossing of all time. It just goes to show what a set of LEGOs and an active imagination can produce...plus there will be a sequel.
