Welcome to 2014, movie lovers! This is the first of two movies about Hercules this year. This one is being rushed to theaters for reasons known only to the execs at Summit Entertainment. It stars Kellen Lutz, an upper Midwest boy from Dickinson, N.D., star of stage, screen and television. He's been part of The Twilight Saga, Prom Night remake, A Nightmare on Elm St. remake along with episodes of CSI:NY, CSI:Miami and 90210. He's tall, well-built and good looking and should do well in this role. The thing is--he's not Kevin Sorbo and he most certainly is not Dwayne Johnson (The Rock).

Why is that important, you ask? Dwayne Johnson will portray Hercules in the second 2014 film entitled "Hercules". Dwayne Johnson is tall, really well-built and good looking--and looks more like the son of Zeus than does Lutz. He will definitely be much more believable in the role when that movie is released on July 25, 2014.

It's not a foregone conclusion that this movie will fail. It's directed by Renny Harlin who's made a living off action films. He's done some very impressive work with the likes of Bruce Willis, Sly Stallone, Samuel Jackson, Geena Davis, etc. No one has seen this film yet and it has to be better than "Paranormal Activity 5" which opened last weekend. Of course, they said the same about "Cutthroat Island" as well. It'll be fun to watch a North Dakota boy take on this challenge.
