Lexington high school students have a variety of venues to go for entertainment and enrichment this month. Continued from previous article:
6. The Lexington Children's Theatre is putting on "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" this month. Students will see what happens when the Herdman children, terrors throughout the neighborhood, volunteer to be in the annual Christmas pageant.
Show times are Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2:00 p.m. The show will be performed at the Opera House. Tickets cost $16 for adults and $13 for children. For more information, call 859-254-4546, Ext. 247.
7. The YMCA of Central Kentucky's annual Reindeer Ramble 5K Run/Walk returns this month. This year's race will be at Keeneland on Saturday, Dec. 12. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. It is open to both serious runners and casual walkers. People can register as individuals or as part of a "Santapede" team of multiple participants. The teams are tied together with a rope like reindeer.
Registration for the race, which is open to people ages 8 and older, will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. On-site. Advance registration costs $22 for adults and $12 for children. Registration is $8 more on the day of the event. All funds raised benefit YMCA's Campaign for Kids.
8. The Lexington Children's Theatre is bringing the classic tale of "The Little Mermaid" to life. Show times are Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 19, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. The show will be performed at the Main Stage Theater on West Short Street. Tickets cost $13 for adults and $11 for children. For more information, call 859-254-4546, Ext. 247.
9. The Lexington Philharmonic's annual Candy Cane Concert on Sunday, Dec. 13, is expected to be even better this year than last. Joined by the Diana Evans dancers, the orchestra will lift your holiday spirits. Plus, visit with Santa Claus and take part in more holiday festivities. The show is at the Singletary Center and starts at 3:00 p.m., but the pre-show activities begin at 2:00 p.m. Tickets cost $17 for adults and $13 for children. For more information, call 859-233-4226.
