If you have (or are) a college bound senior high school student, you should dilligently searching for college scholarships. To help you in your journey, here are some college scholarships you can look into. Some of these scholarships require you to start shopping long before 12th grade. Others are still available to students already in college.
The Gates Millennium Scholars 2010 deadline is January 11, 2010. Students must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American. They must be legal US citizens. Have demonstrated leadership abilities. They must also meet Federal Pell grant criteria.
The Mensa Education and Research Foundation is offering scholarships based on a 550 word essay explaining their goals. The application deadline is January 15. There is also an International scholarship that also has a January 15 deadline.
The AIA/AAF Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarships are for high school seniors and college freshman planning to study architecture at a NAAB-accredited program. Scholarships are based on financial need. Application deadline is January 15.
The Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholarship Program is a renewable scholarship for students who are leaders on college campuses. "The program pays tribute to President Ronald Reagan in recognition of his achievements on behalf of freedom, American values and constitutional principles, his optimism about America's future, and his faith in America's youth to protect and enhance the legacy of liberty entrusted to them." The deadline is January 15, 2010.
The Anderson Consulting Scholarship Program for Minorities is open to College Juniors majoring in engineering. The deadline is simply listed as January.
The Breakthrough to Nursing Scholarships For Ethnic People of Color is awarded to 13 -15 undergraduate students each year who are preparing for careers in nursing. Deadline is listed as January.
The Discover Scholarship Program is available to any high school junior with a 2.75 GPA in the 9th and 10th grades. They must demonstrate community service, and have had overcome a significant life challenge. There will be 10 scholarships of $40,000 each. The deadline is January 31, 2010.
The Arthur Anderson Scholarship Program for Minorities has a January 30 deadline. Students must be African-American, Hispanic or Native-American and planning to major in accounting.
Microsoft is giving technical scholarships to Minorities, Women, the disabled, and also general scholarships. The scholarships are merit based. Students must demonstrate an interest in computer science and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The deadline is Feb 1.
