Info 101: at the movies 33: Asian Film Fest; TVTV special; McKnight grants

ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL, NOV. 3-13.

HIGHLIGHTS:  "That Girl in Yellow Boots", "The Red Chapel", "City of Life and Death", "Brand New Life", "Sawako Decides" & "Crazy Racer".  Asian Cinema has given the world some fine feature films and some exciting and talented actors.  Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh are just three names whose careers began in films from this culture.  This festival features over 30 films from a dozen countries from the up-and-coming younger generation of filmmakers.  A great chance for local filmmakers and actors to see what else is out there.

Showings will be screened at the St. Anthony Main, 115 E. Main St., 612.331.4723.  Easiest access is from SE 3rd St. from Central Av.  Street and lot parking is available.

2011 McKNIGHT FELLOWSHIPS IN FILMMAKING AND SCREENWRITING.

IFP MN & the McKnight Foundation will award $25,000 fellowships to four mid-career MN filmmakers and screenwriters.  This is one of those opportunities mentioned above.

Writers must submit one feature-length screenplay.  Directors must submit 2 completed films any length.

Deadlines: Writers-4 p.m., Feb. 1, 2011.  Directors-4 p.m., March 1, 2011.
