Late today, Department of Defense announced the death of another U.S. Soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Spc. Angel L. Lopez, 27, of Parma, Ohio, died Oct. 5, 2013, in Zabul province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.
There has been no information regarding other Soldiers who might have been injured in this same attack.
Spc. Lopez was assigned to the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Ky.
This week begins the thirteenth year of U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan. There have been six troop losses in the last ten days. One Marine death remains under investigation.
