A product synonymous with safety and widely regarded as the optimal way to keep sleeping babies warm has been recalled by the CPSC. The recall affects consumers of HALO SleepSack Wearable Blankets, though it only affects the white and pink ruffled sleeping bags adorned with pink satin flowers.
Approximately 27,000 of the embellished blankets, sold exclusively at Babies R Us, have been recalled due to a choking hazard that is posed if one of the flower petals detaches. Though no deaths have occurred, the CPSC has received six reports of petals detaching and one report of an infant gagging on a detached petal.
According to the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission, only SleepSack products with GPU numbers 2701, 2781, 2886, 2887, 3007, 3035 and 3142 printed on a neck label under the primary neck label are included in the recall. Consumers are encouraged to stop using the recalled SleepSack and contact HALO Innovations for instructions on how to remove the flower and return it for a free replacement product.
