Indy about to experience Record Store Day

It is time to rejoice music buyers!  National Record Store Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th.  If you have never heard of this, the most glorious of days for shopping local music stores, you have no idea what you are missing.

Record Store Day is celebrated nationwide at over 700 independent music stores.  Founded in 2007 record store day happens once or twice each year and features an ever-growing list of very limited edition releases (http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home) only available at participating venues (http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venues).

Here in Indianapolis there are several storefronts participating.  Not only will the exclusive releases (or at least a sub-set of them) be available at the shop, but a variety of other special events will be taking place.  Just in the Broad Ripple neighborhood there will be no less than 3 venues holding free live music.  Local artists will have feature displays and local food and beverages will be made available at several of the best locations.

If you have a favorite store you should check their schedule to get an idea of the amount of celebrating will be going on.  Not all releases will be available at all locations so be sure to ask around if you are looking for something special.  Hope to see many of you out that day.  Do your best to hit more than one store and use the comments field here to talk up your favorite stops.
