Luscious Lumeria Maui, a transcendental healing sanctuary, announced the appointment of Janis Clapoff as managing director. Clapoff brings a wealth of experience to the Hawaiian wellness and yoga destination.

Your LA Destination Spas Examiner has had many wonderful opportunities to work with Janis during her stints with prestigious properties such as the Halekulani in Waikiki, San Ysidro Ranch, Four Seasons Biltmore Santa Barbara and Ojai Valley Inn & Spa . A delightful, amiable, knowledgeable and innovative leader, Clapoff is credited with introducing a luxury suite concept at the Halekulani.

Xorin Balbes, founding owner, designer and creative director for Lumeria says “I chose Janis because of her expertise and long history with high end properties. She has designed and implemented classes and programming at some of America’s most renowned destination resorts, spas and hideaways and she brings a standard of service to the guest experience that will raise the bar at Lumeria. Janis understands all areas of our operation as well as guest interest in learning, wellness and adventure.” Janis looks forward to taking care of all guests needs at Lumeria.

Hawaii’s first wellness and adventure retreat to focus on yoga and transformation programming of mind, body and spirit, Lumeria features luxury accommodations surrounded by tropical gardens. Guests get to participate in a rich array of classes, enjoy organic cuisine from the property’s own organic gardens and orchards, and undergo a menu of healing therapies.

Lumeria encompasses six ocean- and mountain-view acres between the seaside village of Paia and the upcountry paniolo (cowboy) town of Makawao. In addition to its 24 guest rooms and suites, the retreat also features a yoga and event pavilion, a yoga studio, 900-square-foot outdoor yoga platform and 8,000-square-foot lower terrace suited for group activities. The property’s restaurant Harvest serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week with menus featuring local, organically grown produce.

Lumeria is located 2.5 miles from the Maui’s famed North Shore. The property is a restored historic site, originally constructed in 1909, and features classic Hawaii-style neo-colonial fusion architecture.
