Individual tickets go on sale for Broadway in Toledo Series

Tomorrow, August 18, will be the first time Toledoans may buy individual tickets for “ONCE”, “CAMELOT”, “SISTER ACT” and Disney’s “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”. These four performances are part of the Theater League’s 2014-15 Broadway in Toledo Series Live! at the Stranahan Theater. Starting Monday at 9 a.m., tickets for these four shows will be on sale starting at $28. “The Book of Mormon” will also be part of the 2014-15 season, but individual tickets will go on sale for this show at a later date.

“Camelot” will arrive first to kick off the season. From Oct. 23-26, the four-time Tony Award winning show will be performed for Toledo audiences. The legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table will come to life on stage. Audiences will relive the troubled love triangle between Arthur, Guinevere his queen, and Lancelot his best friend.

“We’re excited to be presenting this national tour revival of Camelot,” said Mark Edelman, president of the Theater League. “It’s a great love story, with some of the most soaring ballads in Broadway history” The show contains the romantic songs “If I Would Ever Leave You”, “How to Handle a Woman” and many others.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” will be presented on Jan. 23-24 at the Stranahan Theater. This luscious love story is a romantic Broadway musical for the young and young at heart. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this classic is filled with lovable characters, luxurious sets and costumes and lavish production numbers including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song.

Next to grace the Stranahan stage will be another comedy, “Sister Act” from April 9-12, 2015. Featuring original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, this uproarious tale tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer whose life takes a twist in fate when she witnesses a crime. Seeking protection for Deloris from the mob, the cops hide her in a convent! Once there, Deloris befriends the sisters and helps them to find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

On May 5-10, 2015, the final show of the 2014-15 season is the 2012 smash hit “Once” which won eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical. “Once” tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician who’s about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs. Emotionally captivating and theatrically breathtaking, “Once” is an unforgettable story about going for your dreams and the power of music to connect us all.
