Indie Rock Documentary Screening at Avalon Theatre

A special screening of the award-winning documentary HER AIM IS TRUE will be held at the Avalon Theatre on September 10, 2014 follow by a discussion session with director Karen Whitehead. The event is part of the Avalon in Focus series and the 35th anniversary celebration of the Women in Film and Television (WIFV). Proceeds from the screening will go to WIFV’s Carolyn’s First Decade Fund.

HER AIM IS TRUE tells the story of Jini Dellaccio, the first female photographer of rock during its early years. She has captured some riveting photographs of countless legendary rockers such as The Sonics and Neil Young. The documentary reunited subjects with artist as the film explores the life of this daring and innovative photographer through music and pictures of some of the most iconic rock musicians in the world.

Carolyn’s First Decade Fund is a grant that supports individuals in first decade of their media professional career. It also provides outlets for development within the film industry. The fund is named after documentary filmmaker Carolyn Projansky and one of the founding members of WIFV.
