Why wait to the new year to start exercising when you can start now? That way, when January 1st rolls around, you have no mental barriers to overcome. It's already a given that exercise is a part of your routine. And better yet, you'll have a head start on burning off all those delicious holiday treats.
Here are a few indie tunes to get you off your butternut pie:
This energetic hand-clapper begins, "You got a whole lot left to say now/ You knocked all your wind out/ You just tried too hard and you froze." After all the running it'll make you do,"Spotlight" will surely leave you winded. As for freezing? Nah son. That's what Under Armour is for.
How deep is my love? Very. But not only is my love for this song deep, it also makes me dig deep. Whenever I feel like stepping off the treadmill, I turn to Rapture's funky grooves, and I never fail to sweat out a few extra minutes of cardio goodness.
Similar to The Rapture, Cut Copy is another electro-y disco-y post-punk-y band that puts out some seriously danceable house tracks. "Lights and Music" is one of their best. Put it on and feel the shimmery burn.
Listening to the right music is definitely a game changer for the ol' exercise routine. So much so, that it has now become impossible for me to run without the perfect playlist. I guess I should feel bad about my dependency. But feel-good tracks like this new wave delight make that impossible.
Thus far I've mainly listed synthpop tracks, so here's one for the rockers. I'm not sure if I know of a current band that rocks harder than Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I still smile when I think back to their TLA show this past spring. Whenever I want to get my adrenalin pumping, BRMC is my ultimate weapon of choice.
