Hipsters get made fun of a lot. But not by me. I love hipsters. I wish I was cool enough to be one, but since I'm not, the best I can do is defend hipsters when people talk about how awful they are. I come to their defense by saying: "You don't know what you're talking about. Hipster girls are so hot. Plus, hipsters make really good music." Then I queue up these fun hipster summer hits.
I saw these guys three summers ago and have been dying to see them again ever since. They're the epitome of fun summer hipster music. If you like MGMT, Passion Pit, and pure musical bliss, then this is a track you can't miss.
Have you ever had something come into your life, and you were like, "Oh my God. I love this. How did I ever live without it?" That's what I said when I first got my iPhone. But it's also what I say every time I hear this song. With the danceable 4/4 beat, infectious hooks, and handclaps aplenty, "Borrowed Time" is good vibes all around.
"Leaving your cares behind." That's what this song is about. Uncoincidentally, that's what summer is about too.
Though I'm a huge fan of Crystal Fighters, I'm not such a huge fan of LA. It's not really my scene. I'm much more of an East Coast gal. With that said, this tune, with its sing-songy layered vocals and sliding guitar riffs, makes me want to drive around Venice Beach on a bright and breezy summer day. (Here's a remix of "LA Calling" that sounds almost nothing like the original, but which is equally as amazing.)
I love all kinds of summer games. Marco Polo, Ding Dong Ditch, Let's Throw Rocks at Bats, Flashlight Tag, Frisbee Golf, you name it. But I'm pretty sure those aren't the kind of games this song is talking about. This song is talking about head games, and those aren't something I play. Those are something I dominate.
