There are two great things in this world: beards and games. When the two are combined, something magical happens.
"Beard," brought to you by Beer Star Games, is a game that initially reminds you of the basketball game "Horse." Mostly because the object of the game "Beard" is to spell the word out in front of you by collecting "Beard" cards. On the back side of these cards are the individual letters of the word.
How the game works
In order to obtain the "Beard" cards necessary to win, you must first draw from the "Save or Shave" deck. This deck contains cards with various actions on them. For example, one card makes the player say phrase such as "I am a lady" in their most feminine voice. By doing so, you are allowed to draw three cards from the "Beard" deck and place them in front of you. If you happen to draw a letter you already have, then you must discard it. The game continues around the table until someone is able to spell the word "Beard."
Coming to a Kickstarter near you
According to the creator, Dan Curran, the plan is to get "Beard" onto Kickstarter in October for an eventual release in November. Curran hopes to get funding in order to improve certain graphics of the game and print it onto different card stock.
Some final notes
Curran claims that the inspiration of the game came while attending PAX East this past year, and that Brent Spiner, of "Fresh Hell," had come to him in a dream telling him to make the game. Well, whatever the reason, the game should bring a lot of smiles to peoples' faces.
"Beard" is a fast paced game that can be played with three to six players, and even girls can play it (even though some don't have beards). There is no age requirement at this current time.
