The Rap Music Examiner will be attending the Indie Entertainment Summit in Los Angeles, California from August 6-9. There will be panel discussions, performances from up and coming artists as well as workshops on all things music. The sponsors for this event include Artisthead, Indiepower, The Los Angeles Film School, and Reverbnation. The event is a 4 day festival that includes keynote speakers, Ted Cohen (Managing Partner, TAG Strategic), and Steve Lobel (Iconic American Artist manager, Author and Entrepreneur) as well as a host of speakers including Alonzo Robinson of ASCAP; Brian Felsen, President of CD Baby; Bun B; Jay Warsinske, CEO and Founder of Indiepower; Ken Gordy, Industry Executive; Mike Robinson, Talent Scout for BET's 106 & Park; and many other industry professionals ranging from producers to engineers and marketing consultants. The IES will be inducting 2PAC with artists Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, DJ Quik, Ice Cube, and others.
The Indie Entertainment Summit is known for inaugurating celebrities including En Vogue, KISS, Pink Floyd, and other prominent individuals in the industry including producers, CEOs and entertainers from movies, television and dignitaries. This year's honors include: Foo Fighters, Iggy & The Stooges, Blink-182, Limp Bizkit, Green Day, Lemmy & Motorhead, System of a Down, Slash, Fishone & Angelo Moore, and Epitaph Records. Additionally, the IES is a support of the DJ World Championship, which brings together the hottest DJs in a showdown like no other. The winner of the showdown receives over $20,000 in services as well as a promotional campaign from Indiepower.
