The wide range of talented artists (The National, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys…need I say more) playing All Points West makes the decision of who to see a tricky one. Here are some recommendations:
- Fleet Foxes: With the release of their self-titled album last year, Fleet Foxes combines folk with baroque pop to create something all their own. See the manifestations of this brilliant, musical experiment on Friday, July 31 at the Blue Comet stage at 3:35pm.
- Elbow: Hailing from Manchester, England, this alternative rock band is headed by lead singer Guy Garvey who does all he can to connect with his audience. In May 2008, Garvey got off the stage and into the crowd at a show at Denver’s Bluebird Theater. Catch them on Sunday at the Blue Comet stage at 6:15pm.
- Chairlift: Receiving attention after their song “Bruises” was featured in an iPod Nano commercial, this electronic indie pop trio’s repertoire goes far beyond their popular single. Playing the Queen of the Valley stage on Saturday, August 1 at 6:45pm, don’t miss this one!
- Mogwai: Taking the Bullet stage on Sunday, August 2 at 7:05pm, this Scottish post-rock band puts on a performance that verges on a religious experience. Be sure to come worship at the church of amazing music when Mogwai perform at APW.
