What are WeBeLoS?
WeBeLoS stands for We'll Be Loyal Scouts. To the layperson, it is two levels of Cub Scouting that are meant to be stepping stones along the transitional path between Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting. WeBeLoS Adventure Camp or WAC, for short, is a 4 day, 3 night program designed specifically for this designation of the Cub Scouting rank. For scouts in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas, Camp Kikthawenund is the clear choice for WAC festivities.
Since 1972, Camp Kikthawenund or Camp K, as it is called by most, has served as the primary WAC host for the 4th and 5th grade boys of the Crossroads of America Council. Located in scenic Frankton Indiana and covering 230 acres, this sprawling, trail laden wonderland packs adventure into every corner. Scouts and their adult leaders are treated to swimming, boating, archery, B.B. gun shooting, hiking and a host of other activities throughout the course of the week. The dining hall is large, immaculate and capable of comfortably seating 400 diners. The primitive camping areas come complete with tents and cots though campers are free to provide for their own sleeping arrangements. The staff, comprised mostly of volunteers and Boy Scouts, is friendly and courteous. Campers will find that the staff is there to have fun just like the scouts and, as such, are not above pranking the adult leaders or joining in a sponge fight at Fort Miami or eating S'mores with the winners of the campfire contest.
Above all else, WAC at Camp K is about having fun and growing as a scout. In this capacity, it does not fail to deliver. The only complaint that Cub Scouts have is that they only get to do it for two years. It truly is a wondrous place and time.
