The Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) used social media today, Monday, February 10, to announce a huge edition to their concert lineup for the Indianapolis 500 in May: country music sensation, Jason Aldean.

Just after 7:00 AM EST. this morning, the IMS announced on Twitter that it would be adding a "Legends Day" to their pre-race celebrations during the month of May. In addition to Aldean, the event will also feature a tribute to racing legend, Mario Andretti.

Aldean is considered a major snag for the IMS and its officials. With 12 number one singles already to his name, Aldean is currently having one of the biggest years in country music; as his newest album, "Night Train", was the top-selling album of a male country star in five years, and went platinum in just a month.

“Over the last several years we have continued to add reasons for our fans to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the day before the Indianapolis 500 to celebrate our current drivers and the legends of the race as part of Legends Day,” J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president, told indianapolismotorspeedway.com.

Aldean is also a huge success on social media, with over two million followers on Twitter. News of his concert at the historic racetrack spread quickly on social media via his large and enthusiastic fan base, the #AldeanArmy.

The event will be the day after the legendary Carb Day celebration, on May 24. Tickets for the event go on sale next Monday, February 17. Current ticket holders of any IMS event in 2014 will be able to purchase tickets to the concert at a discounted rate of $25. For those that currently do not have tickets to any race this season, tickets will be available in advance for $30, and $40 at the gate.
