Indianapolis Colts 2010 preseason: Five key storylines entering Colts-Cincinnati Bengals (p2)

3. Cornerback. The entire defensive secondary – and really, the back seven – always is intriguing to watch in the preseason finale because a lot of those players may be on the roster as special teams contributors and backups. Corner is an intriguing spot for the Colts, because while Kelvin Hayden, Jerraud Powers and Jacob Lacey seem entrenched at the top three spots, no one else on the roster has played a regular-season game for the Colts. The team signed long-time Steelers corner DeShea Townsend as a veteran free agent during training camp, but with Kevin Thomas on injured reserve and out for the season, several late-drafted rookies or free agents will be competing for a roster position or two. Included in that group is Fisher, as well as Brandon King (Purdue) and first-year veteran Terrail Lambert (Notre Dame).

4. Fourth running back. The Colts sometimes keep a fourth back and sometimes they don't. The first two positions are set with Joseph Addai and Donald Brown, and the team seems to like very much third-year veteran Mike Hart as the third back and short-yardage specialists. Moore could make it as a fourth back and returner, and Javarris James – a rookie free agent and the cousin of Colts all-time leading rusher Edgerrin James – also is a possibility. The guess here is Moore has a real chance to be here as a returner.

5. Jeff Linkenbach. The Colts seem to find an unknown lineman who can contribute every year late in the draft or as a rookie free agent. Linkenbach seems to have a chance to be that player this season. He played both tackle positions and guard in one preseason game and with injuries to Charlie Johnson and Tony Ugoh, he could play a role at the left tackle position early in the season. He seems to have played well enough to figure somewhere in the Colts' plans, and could get an extensive look Thursday.
