The Indianapolis Children’s Museum may be the best place to take children in the Indianapolis area for a fun day. The museum has five levels of education and fun with floor attractions including the Dinosphere, the Planetarium, Lilly Theater, a gift shop, food court, Playscape, Science Works, and the Carousel. Exhibits range from Rock n Roll, Barbie, Fireworks of Glass, and Egypt. The exhibits are wonderful, interactive, educational, fun, and are changed periodically throughout the year.
An activity that more individuals living in Indianapolis should know about is the option to send your child to the Children’s Museum for preschool. Children ages 3 through 5 can use the museum’s resources to explore, discover, create, and learn all while making friends and having fun. Each semester is 14-weeks long and includes a 1, 2, or 3 time a week attendance.
Membership to the museum is well worth the price and will pay for itself after three visits for a family of four. Membership includes free carousel rides, a subscription to the museum’s quarterly magazine, 20% discount on preschool and family classes, discounts on birthday parties and haunted house tickets, 15% discount in the gift shop, $1 guest admission tickets, priority seating for Lilly Theatre, and members-only special events. Basic family membership is $120 but watch for specials that offer a basic family membership for $99.
Parking is free so no worries about additional cost or struggling to find parking. Best advice is to plan for at least four hours to experience the different floors, bring a camera, and pack a picnic style lunch. The cafeteria does not have microwaves so plan accordingly and be prepared for lots of family fun

What a great place! I love family friendly venues!
Sounds like a fun museum, especially with the planetarium. What's a Dinosphere?
I love children's museums. They are so great to have around, and the kids just absolutely love them! :)
The Dinosphere is an amazing section in the museum. It houses a paleontology section where children can view the work it takes to get the dinosaur bones ready for the museum floor and meet the paleontologists. A area where children can dress up like a dinosaur and play with fake dinosaur eggs. An area with assembled dinosaurs that simulates the environment the dinosaurs lived in that occasionally has thunder storms (no actual water just the noise and flashing lights). Finally, there is an area where children can put on goggles, grab some tools, and unearth dinosaur bones just like a paleontologist. This section alone can take an hour to tour and allow children to play and experience all of the different sections.
NOTE: $1 guest admission ticket should be stated as $1 off guest admission ticket.
Great info for families in Indianapolis.
