Highly touted Indiana freshman Troy Williams suffered a hand injury during recent workouts and will miss the next few weeks according to an announcement released by the school on Monday.
Williams, a 6-foot-7 forward from Hampton, Virginia starred at Phoebus High School before transferring to Oak Hill Academy prior to his senior season. Williams averaged 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Virginia during his senior season.
Williams, the 53rd-ranked prospect in the 2013 247Sports Composite and the 54th-rated prospect in the 2013 ESPN 100, chose Indiana over North Carolina, Alabama, and Arkansas.
Although a timetable for his recovery was not provided, Williams will likely be unable to participate in Hoosier Hysteria, scheduled for October 4th. He is likely expected to be a key contributor on an Indiana team that lost four starters from last season.
