It’s time to start taking notice of issues, concerns and candidates in our communities, state and country that need to be addressed in the 2014 election cycle; getting basic facts regarding the working of our democracy will enable us as citizens to make quality decisions regarding our present and future progress locally, nationally and globally.
Inclusive of Indian River County, Florida's 8th congressional district is an electoral district for the U.S. Congress and was reassigned in 2012, effective January 2013, from inland central Florida to the central Atlantic coast. The district includes all of Brevard County (including the Kennedy Space Center), as well as all of Indian River County and parts of Orange County.
Currently, the residents of the Eighth District are represented by Republican Bill Posey who has held the seat since 2013 (www.gop.gov/republicans/billposey) Candidates that have filed for the 2014 election cycle (see Indian River County Supervisor of Elections’ website “Becoming an Announced Candidate” for more information) are listed below.
