Indian Hills defeats Paramus High School in girls' basketball

The score was tied 11-11 with 3:35 left in the first quarter. Indian Hills Emily Sclapak is a strong outside shooter. She is good at cutting and finding open spots on the three point line. She had two threes in the first half and one in the second half. Along with 9 points she had 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Indian Hills led at the end of the first quarter, 19-13.

Paramus fought to come back in the second quarter. Starting guard Jackie Helm has great speed and velocity. She knows when to pass and when to shoot. She had 1 assist, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 17 points. PAramus led at the half time, 25-24.

In the third quarter Paramus came out strong and built a bigger lead, 41-32. Starting senior point guard Brittany Stone is great at drawing the defense and distributing to teammates. She is a strong player who can rebound inside and play in the back court. She had 4 assists, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 8 points.

Indian Hills played a smart lock-down defense in the fourth quarter. With 3:20 remaining in the game they took the lead, 42-41. Kayla Connelly is a big asset to the team. She had 7 rebounds, 1 blocked shot, 1 steal, and 11 points.

Paramus was trailing 44-42 with :38.4 seconds remaining when Julia Koenemund hit both of her foul shots to tie the game, 44-44. This led to overtime.

During the overtime, Paramus took the lead when they scored two quick baskets during a scramble in the paint. With :30.8 remaining Indian Hills' Jules Dehrlein fouled out. Paramus was in the lead 49-47. With 14 seconds remaining, Karley Greulich hit a 3 point shot, putting them in the lead, 50-49. Paramus called time out and was granted the time out with :11.8 seconds remaining. They were able able to get the ball down the floor, but it was turned over before they were able to get a shot off.
