High pressure to our north will continue to provide cold and dry conditions across the region today, but clouds will be increasing as an upper level trough and associated surface low pressure system begin to approach from the Great Lakes. This system will bring some light snow late tonight, especially north and west of Albany, before it phases with some energy in the southern stream and strong low pressure develops along the Carolina coast on Friday. This low will then track up the northeast coast on Friday while rapidly strengthening into Friday night, with the exact track dependent on where the heaviest snow falls.
- A winter storm watch is in effect for the entire region from Friday morning through late Friday night for the potential of heavy snow accumulations. A winter storm warning may be issued later today.

Friday Night – Cloudy and breezy with snow likely. The snow could be heavy at times. Low 14-18. Winds northeast between 15 and 20 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches, with higher amounts possible.
