Increase your metabolism to burn more fat

As you age, your metabolism slows down. If you eat exactly the same thing you did 10 years ago, and do everything else exactly the same, you would gain fat. This is not fair, but unfortunately it is reality. You don’t have to accept this. There are things you can do to fight back, and get your metabolism fired up.

Food is very important. If you go long periods without eating, your body thinks you are starving. This causes your body to store food as fat to use for energy when you need it instead of burn fat. This is good if you are really starving. It’s not good if you are just not eating.

Calculate the calories you need to maintain daily. Then divide that number by 5 to find the number of calories to have for each meal. Split your day into sections during your time awake and try to eat your meals spread evenly over that time. This will keep your metabolism high and help you burn fat. Don’t skip breakfast it is very important because you haven't eaten all night, breakfast will get your metabolism going and get your body to burn fat.  Eat your dinner between 5 and 6 PM. Have 1 meal after dinner. No carbs after dinner. A piece of lean meat and a piece of cheese is a good evening snack.

Exercise is also critical to boosting your metabolism and to burn fat. Cardio is important for many different health issues. Cardio will boost your metabolism and burn fat while your doing it. Weight training is far more important to boost your metabolism and burn fat. The increase in metabolism doesn’t stop for quite a while after you are done exercising.  Every extra pound of muscle that you have on your body will burn about 40 calories per day, just from being there. If you can put on only 5 pounds of muscle, you will burn an extra 200 calories per day, that’s 73,000 calories per year. That is equal to 21 pounds of fat you can burn off in a year. That doesn’t even count the extra fat that you will burn off while doing the weight training.

Make sure you stay hydrated, check here to see how much you need per day. Make sure you are getting enough B vitamins. Taking a B complex vitamin can help if you feel like you don’t have enough energy.

What to do is simple. If you do these things, you will pump up your metabolism, burn fat, feel great and be healthier. It shouldn’t take much to convince you that these things are a good idea. Give it a try and you will love the results.
