Hot off the heels of success with this summer's blockbuster, Inception, it seems that director Chris Nolan is hot enough to melt steel. Nolan is so hot that he's been tapped to mold a reboot of Warner Bros. stalled Superman franchise.
Nolan who's successful turn at the Batman franchise with mega-hits Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, brought in over $1.3 billion worldwide, has plans to take on the challenge of getting another Superman film franchise off the ground—a challenge that's frustrated Hollywood filmmakers for nearly twenty years (Superman IV: The Quest For Peace came out in 1987).
After the Chris Reeve Superman movies, the franchise stalled, despite several attempts and a dozen different reboots over the years with such names attached as Nicolas Cage, Kevin Smith, Tim Burton, J.J. Abrams, McG and Brett Ratner,.One of the planned reboots had planed to kill Superman, strip him of his powers, another was to pit him in battle against Batman.
Then came director Bryan Singer, hot off the success of the first two X-Men films. Singer's Superman Returns (2006) was an homage to director Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie (1978) and pulled in over $390 million in boxoffice receipts worldwide, but the production cost over $200 million and received lackluster reviews from critics and a lukewarm reception from fans.
“It’s very exciting; we have a fantastic story,” Christopher Nolan said in an interview with The LA Times (dated 3/10/10). “And we feel we can do it right. We know the milieu, if you will, we know the genre and how to get it done right.” For the Man of Steel reboot, Nolan will produce, handing over the reins to an as-yet-unnamed-director who will be making a movie based on a story by Nolan and frequent collaborator David S. Goyer.
“A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan told the LA Times. That means we can expect a more "realistic" approach to the character than ever before, grittier too.
Fans can't wait to see what Nolan will do with the Last Son of Krypton. Since they are still in the writing phase of the project, there are no hints as to who will play Superman/Clark Kent.
Who would you like to see play Superman? There were many actors who wore the blue and red tights. Who was your favorite Superman?

Have to say Tom Welling. He has shown to be versatile and is quite emotive under the direction of Smallville's many great directors. He has played the character going through all sorts of issues over the years. Publicity for the movie can simply state this is not a Smallville movie. When no one else from the show is in the movie, it should be obvious. Why a lukewarm reception for Superman Returns? Besides a lackluster script, I think fans were pining for Welling.
who wants to play Superman? Well lets see here. There's thing called the Siegel family lawsuit between them and Warner Bros. They are fighting for the rights to the character. Things just got much more complicated and it looks like the movie could be endangered of getting released by 2013. Unless Warner rush releases it before then but a judge could stop that in a heartbeat based on legal proceedings.
have a nice day!
henry cavill must be superman
