January 19 - Skunk Cabbage Swamp Stomp. Volunteer Siobhan Percey has been studying skunk cabbage at Jug Bay and has learned a lot about this unusual wetland inhabitant. Join her for an off-trail adventure to visit this fascinating plant, in bloom, along the swamp edges. 1-3 p.m. at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian.

January 20 - MLK Day of Service Project 2013. Prince George’s county residents are invited to break bread with other residents and attend the MLK Sunday suppoer in honor of Dr. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Residents may also bring clothing donations for area homesless shelters, view a movie about non-violence, and attend a financial literacy workshop. 12-5 p.m. at Benjamin Tasker Middle School in Bowie.
