Inauguration is twelve days away. Smithsonian has two upcoming exhibitions at the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Portrait Gallery.
"A Century Ago: They Came as Sovereign Leaders" is a photo exhibition of President Theodore Roosevelt's inauguration. Six chiefs of different nations partook in the inaugural parade. The leaders wanted to meet with the president to express their concerns rather than celebrate the president's entry into the White House. The exhibit runs from January 15 through February 25, 2013.
National Portrait Gallery is displaying two portraits of Barack Obama on the Second Floor, South Rotunda. One featuring two large-scale portraits by Chuck Close, transferred to jacquard tapestries (January 15-Feburary 25) and "Hope" campaign poster by Shepard Fairey (January 19-22).
