President Obama will be inaugurated on Monday, January 21, 2013. Washington DC promises to be awash in great ethnic, inaugural events that weekend. Here is a sampling of what DC will have to offer.
American Indian Inaugural Ball and Inaugural Pow Wow
The Inaugural Pow Wow will be held on January 19, 2013 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. Entry is free and there will be a Gourd dance in the afternoon, and grand entry in the evening. The vendor and exhibit hall will be open. There will be performances by Ralph Zotig, The Zotigh Singers and The Boyz.

Indiaspora Inaugural Ball
The Indiaspora Ball offers an opportunity to celebrate the second inauguration of President Obama while indulging in the best in Indian American cuisine, culture and music. Key leaders of the Indian American community will be in attendance. The event is limited to people over the age of 21 and the attire is Indian formal, or black tie). Jamaican Inaugural Ball
The Jamaican Inaugural Ball will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Elegant Atrium of the National Education Association (NEA) building from 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Participants will be treated to traditional Jamaican drinks (Red Stripe Beer, Ting and Kola Champagne), food, and music, including Donovan Marks and the Rainforest Band, DJ Wilton “Prentice” Williams, and special guest singer Michael “Silky” Schloss. Virgin Island Association Inaugural Ball
The Virgin Island Association Inaugural Ball will be held at the Crowne Hotel in Alexandria, VA at 7 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by the Image Band. The money raised will be used to provide high school scholarships for students in the Virgin Islands.
