With Friday comes a new round of movies into theatres across the nation. Although February is well-known for it's lack of important and meaningful movies in movie world, if you're interested in Nicholas Sparks romance stories, this weekend is for you.
Dear John is being released today and is a sufficient choice for anyone who wishes to embark on an emotional roller coaster ride, or anyone who has a girlfriend that has been bugging you to take her to a movie ever since you made her see that terrible horror movie that she had to close her eyes through. It is the story of two young people who meet, fall in love, and then life gets in the way separating them from each other in every way except through the letters they send each other.
For anybody not interested in sappy love stories but instead wants to see an intense and action-packed John Travolta movie should go and see From Paris with Love, the story of a low-ranked intelligence officer who just wants to advance up the government ladder and must assist in high-risk, high-action missions in order to get his foot in the door.
Crazy Heart has come to the Iowa City area. Another indie drama and critics choice that has come to the Iowa City area is An Education, starring Carey Mulligan and Peter Saarsgard. This film is about a 16 year old girl who has the world in front of her, bending to her will, when she meets a man 20-ish years her senior who takes an active interest in her life. This suitor shows her a new side to the world, the one of glitzy concerts and late, expensive dinners. Does Jenny succumb under this new life or continue with the one her family had planned for her?
