George Clooney is a hit man, Justin Long and Drew Barrymore try to maintain a long-distance relationship, and Danny Trejo brings on the action in this weekend’s new theatrical releases. What will you be seeing?

“The American”: In this thriller directed by Anton Corbijn, George Clooney is Jack, a gifted assassin who decides his next assignment will be his last. But while in Italy on that assignment, he befriends a priest and falls for a local woman, both of whom cause him to question what he’s doing. Runtime: 103 minutes. Rated R for violence, sexual content, and nudity.
“Going the Distance”: This romantic comedy directed by Nanette Burstein stars Justin Long and Drew Barrymore as Garrett and Erin, a couple who can’t help becoming deeply involved with each other despite the fact that Erin will be moving to Los Angeles in a few weeks. They decide to continue the relationship long-distance when she leaves, but this is harder than they think as their faith in each other is tested. Runtime: 109 minutes. Rated R for sexual content including dialogue, language throughout, some drug use and brief nudity.
“Machete”: Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis direct this action movie based on a fake trailer from the 2007 double feature “Grindhouse”. Danny Trejo plays the title character, a former Mexican Federal Police officer who seeks revenge on his employers who betrayed him. Also stars Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, and Cheech Marin. Runtime: 105 minutes. Rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, language, some sexual content and nudity.
