If you’re in the mood for a love story set in the spoken word world and live in the L.A. area then you’re in luck this weekend as writer-director Charles Murray’s “Things Never Said” opens at the Rave Theater Cinemas-Baldwin Hills.
The indie film stars actress Shanola Hampton as an abused wife who finally gets the courage to follow her dream as a spoken word artist and along the way finds love. The cast also includes Omari Hardwick, Elimu Nelson, Tamala Jones, Dorian Missick, Charlayne Woodard and Tom Wright.
Hampton in an interview with Hip Hollywood spoke about her fears in playing an aspiring poet.
“I was so afraid of the poetry cause I knew there were professionals out there and the whole time I was like they’re going to say I’m such a fraud, what is she doing but what I thought what was really great is Charles Murray wrote this script in a way that was so Shakespearean in the way that he worded things and I could really clearly understand all of the poetry.“
