Warren Morrow Latino Community Betterment Grant

Wooly's will host the Third Annual Warren Morrow Memorial Concert on Saturday at 9 p.m. Parranderos Latin Combo, Estrofia, DJ Lizz will all perform, and there will be a silent auction at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10, and all the proceeds will benefit the Warren Morrow Latino Community Betterment Grant. Denver rock duo In the Whale will pay a visit to Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines for a 10 p.m. show. The duo, Nate Valdez and Eric Riley, has released three EPs, their most recent being Nate in April. In the Whale has opened for/toured with the likes of Murder by Death, Local H, Reverend Horton Heat, Electric Six, Bob Log III, and Slash. The 21-and-over show will have a $7 cover charge, and Wing Dam, Doctor Dentist, and Canyons will serve as openers.

Des Moines lo-fi musician Ramona Muse will DJ at The PBR Bar in alley beside Vaudeville Mews starting at 9 p.m. The 21-and-over event is free.

Des Moines folk singer Luke Fox and Cedar Falls folk rock duo The Host Country will perform at Raccoon River Brewing Company on Saturday night starting at 9 p.m. The music is free, and the event is open to all ages.

The 515 Alive Urban Music and Arts Festival will kick off at noon on Saturday in Des Moines' Western Gateway Park. The event will be headlined by Canadian bass music DJ Downlink. Here is Examiner's preview of the event.
