When the grandson of a rich Texas oil tycoon falls in love with a poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks, someone ends up murdered as tensions heat up in this crime of passion movie.

The movie is based on the true story of Olivia Nelson Browning. According to court records, Olivia Browning was shot dead and then burned by her paraplegic lover Ralph Hand III.

Ralph Hand's father, a wealthy Mississippi man, was against the relationship with Olivia Browning from the beginning. The 'crime of passion' murder case occurred in Tallahatchie county in Glendora, Miss., in 1989, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

Ralph Hand III was convicted of murder and served time in prison until 2000, according to the Movies Based On True Stories Archives.
