The second day of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival was one full of surprises. In the days leading up to the event, festival producer Goldenvoice quietly added two headline worthy acts to the bill - The Pixies & Julian Casablancas of The Strokes. The bigger surprise, however, were the unannounced five headline caliber acts who also showed up on the second day of the festival: Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani and Beyonce. Although Beyonce's appearance with sister Solange was brief (they did a quick dance together), Puff Daddy, Stefani and Snoop's appearance's with super producer Pharrell Williams were meatier and drew in the largest crowd of the festival. Jay-Z made an appearance with former nemesis NAS during the latter's headline set.

As with the first day of the festival, the indie and rock acts which the festival was built upon drew some of the lightest crowds. The surrounding main-stage crowd around Queens of the Stoneage was noticeably light, while Muse's crowd also looked lighter than when they performed in 2010. Along with Pharrell Williams, the biggest draws of the day were the Electronic Dance Music artists which included Skrillex, Fatboy Slim and Empire of the Sun.

Other performers on day 2 included: Lorde, Foster The People, Pet Shop Boys, MGMT, Kid Cudi, The Head And The Heart, Sleigh Bells, Cage The Elephant, City And Colour, CHVRCHES, Dillon Francis, Capital Cities, The Naked And Famous, Temples, Mogwai, Warpaint, Solange, Washed Out, Future Islands, Ty Segal, DARKSIDE, Banks, Tiga, Bombay Bicycle Club, Holy Ghost!, Netsky, RL Grime, Galantis, Foxygen, White Lies, Graveyard, The Internet, Laura Mvula, The Dismemberment Plan, Headhunterz, Blood Orange, GTA, TJR, Cajmere, Guy Gerber, Nicole Moudaber, MAKJ, Bear Hands, The Magician, Young & Sick, Unlocking The Truth, Saints Of Valory, Carbon Airways, UZ, Syd Arthur, Bicep, Drowners
