In Nomine Paranormal Research

In Nomine Paranormal Research (INPR) was founded in July 2008 by 7 founding members. They are Kim Daugherty, Sarah Neher, Megan Price, Ludema Simon, Rob Stone, Jason Snyder, and Kurt Begue. The name In Nomine comes from Latin meaning "in the name of", so naturally it fit into their main goal and purpose. The name was credited to Rob Stone who finally came up with an acceptable and fitting name after several weeks of team debate.

The INPR logo was the brain-child of Kim Daugherty. This too was also a huge topic of discussion and debate until finally one day Kim voiced the idea of putting a wave pattern behind the name and the current logo was born. With the help of Brandon Latowski and Simply Dead Graphics, the more modern logo was created.  INPR's mission and vision statements were carefully crafted by Kurt Begue. The words that he selected truly exemplified and explained their meaning and purpose. It clearly defines who they are and why they are so passionate about brining forward proof.

INPR is always looking for exceptional people to join their team. They are very careful to select members that truly want to advance the field of paranormal research, not just experience the rush of being a Ghost Hunter.

INPR is headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN with satellite offices in Columbus and Goshen, IN. INPR will travel through all of INdiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky.

INPR has specific guidelines set for the safety of their team members and the productivity and integrity of their investigations. Some of these guidelines include; grounding exercises to keep themselves grounded and protected. Grounding is the cat of being here in the present, with no misconceptions about where or who you are. It is about being fully aware of our physical selves. If you are grounded, you are conscious of yourselves, your surroundings, and your connection to earth. INPR has a strong sense of being. They pray for protection using the St. Michael Prayer and some of them have recently started carrying stones that have known protective properties, such as Black Tourmaline, Smokey Quartz, and Amethyst.

INPR has tech and case managers who head up the protocols for investigations. They all work together as a team to set up cameras and equipment under their instruction. During an investigation it is important to get equipment set up in the most active areas and that camera angles are correct for optimal area coverage. INPR members have been trained and practice proper ways to  assure that EVP sessions are not contaminte, for example, it is extremely important to tag any noise that they make so it is not mistaken for something paranormal.

INPR has been on same great cases and were able to collect some of the best paranormal evidence out there. Some of their most active cases include:

An undisclosed residential location; which they have investigated on two occasions, both yielded some great evidence.

Homeowner states she teaches “various forms of alternative” religion in her home. Her experiences started in the house in the year 2000. She states that she has been resuscitated and brought back to life in the middle of her living room...she had 6 death experiences during open-chest surgery. Prior to her illness, she had been pretty engaged in "occult" studies. Soon after she came home, however, odd things began happening. It started with cold/hot spots. There's been lots of occult-type stuff happening in this house on a very regular basis, but that all this "activity" began after she came home from that lengthy illness, a year or so before the "occult" stuff. She often hears people call her name (typically women's voices) when she knows she is home alone.

She says that in 2002, her boyfriend at the time spent the night, and found himself awake, in the attic, staring into a “creepy little closet-like room” up there. She will get flashes of light or shadows - mostly out the corner of her eyes - usually downstairs, during the day. Claims she will hear "thumps" - upstairs, that sound like they are coming from the ceiling (attic), if you're downstairs, they sound like they come from the basement. She claims that a growl was heard in the basement during a previous investigation with another team.

She states her son (who is 11 now), spent a great deal of time speaking to an old man when he was in Kindergarten. He insisted this old man was real; that he "kept Mommy well", and that the old man used to live in the basement (she says bought this house; it wasn't in the family...None of them ever lived there). The summer before 1st grade, her son told her the old man decided to move back to the basement, and that meant he wouldn't see him again for a long time. She is unsure if her son even remembers him.

Another case which has yielded some great evidence is that of Whisper’s Estate in Mitchell, Indiana.

Whispers Estate was built in 1894, or earlier.

In 1899 (or 1901, depending on which source you reference), Dr John and Jessie Gibbons purchased the house from the original owners, Dr George and Sarah White. Dr John and Jessie Gibbons reportedly adopted abandoned/orphaned children. One of these children, a 10-year old girl named Rachael, started a fire in the front parlor, being badly burned, and died 2 days later in one of the upstairs bedrooms. But, you can still hear, and sometimes see, her running around the house today.

A 10-month infant, Elizabeth, died in the master bedroom of unknown causes, but there's still the scent of baby power, and you can sometimes still hear her cries.

Jessie died in that same bedroom after a bout with double-pneumonia. Guests sleeping in that room often awake to labored breathing and coughing. Some even report feeling as if someone is sitting on their chest. The most common paranormal activity in this room is the closet doorknob will frequently jiggle for a few moments, stop suddenly, and the closet door will pop open. The maximum reported count for repeatable occurrences is 5 within a couple minutes. This of course required persons in the room to close the door each time.

Dr Gibbons was a prominent doctor in town, having his office in the 1st floor rooms in the house. Given the time period and medical field, it is likely many patients died there during his practice of ~26 years.

Stories of subsequent owners/occupants suggest others have encountered their own demise, such as a gentlemen in the 50s/60s that died in the upstairs bathroom, a young boy that died from falling down the front staircase (recently spoke with the relatives of this little boy; got name and keywords), and more.

In 2006, the previous owner bought the house after being vacant for a few years. During its restoration, strange activity started to occur. Activity in the house continued, and even increased, subsequently earning the name 'Whispers Estate' after guests repeatedly reported hearing disembodied voices whispering in their ears.

Since 2006, the house has been investigated by numerous paranormal groups as well as visited by psychics & demonologists.

There are supposedly 4 graves in the backyard, not including, what psychics have called, a pit-grave which they say contain amputated limbs, internal organs, aborted fetuses, etc...

There is reportedly a portal/vortex which runs up through the house from the front parlor into the 3rd floor room/attic. The room in the attic is said to be the heart of the house. Guests that are brave enough to sleep in this 3rd floor room report horrible nightmares and sometimes hear something trying to get in the room via the door (door knob jiggling).

Visitors have reported sighting a shadow, which is now called ‘Big Black’, an entity which psychics says ‘is not of this world’. While most commonly encountered in the doctor's rooms, it has been seen throughout the house.

Guests have experienced earthquake-like tremors while in Doctor's bathroom... No... not 'those kinds' of tremors... I'm referring to tremors of a paranormal origin.

EVP sessions have revealed many entities in the house at any given time, But you don't always need recording equipment to hear these disembodied voices at Whispers Estate. Many young women have reported hearing Dr John whisper in their ears, as well sometimes grabbing/groping them.

Guests claim to see the beds/couches visible shake, while still others sleeping on beds and couches have reported having them shake violently.....

(Often, guests decide they'd rather sleep as close to the front door as possible, just in case...)

Investigators often do 'rounds' throughout the house at different times throughout a night. Sometimes, upon leaving the servant’s quarters, just after the last person exits the room, the solid, heavy, wooden door slams with unrestrained force by unseen presence.

There are times when guests notice pleasant smells of baby power drift throughout the house, but the scent of pungent cologne/aftershave; cigar/tobacco, rancid meat/cabbage, dirty medical bandages, and more are not uncommon.

Guest have reported their recording camcorders being moved by an unseen presence, thereby disturbing the viewpoint of the intended target.

If you’re not completely freaked out, and think you have what it takes to spend a night here, please contact them to make a reservation and to experience for yourself...a stay at Whispers Estate.

INPR has conducted over 40 investigations. They range from detailed residential investigations, to commercial locations, to known haunted locations for equipment calibration and testing. Of course their main focus is on their clients and helping them find answers to unexplained occurrences.

If you are interested in learning more about INPR you can visit their website. You can find them on Youtube as well.

Last year at Paranormacon Conference, INPR introduced the Proof 101 Initiative. Proof 101 is INPR's benchmark example of how investigations are supposed to be conducted and how true scientific evidence can be pulled out of data and correlated to paranormal activity. Keeping this in mind, they use their equipment with the “Proof 101" concept in mind. They start out by setting up a Zephyr PWS-1000TD / Professional Weather Station. They then can track any small changes in atmospheric conditions, to correlate with any paranormal activity. They keep a constant monitor on this the whole investigation, taking the atmospheric readings of: temperature (indoors and outside), barometric pressure, relative humidity, wind speed and wind direction. They also use an entire line of standard meters to get EMF Readings: KII Meter, Extech EMF, TriField Meter Model 100XE, Mel Meter 8704-R. The reason they use so many different types is to ensure that one meter is not malfunctioning or interpreting the EM Field incorrectly. If they find a unusual EM Field, they will strive to find a “natural” cause for this before calling it “Paranormal”.

They also will deploy a Zmodo 4 Chanel 500 GB DVR System with 4 cameras, that they set up in what after taking a tour with the client, they determine to be the “hot spots”. Matched up with this are a variety of infrared cameras ranging in usable distances from 20 feet to over 300 feet. Yes 70 glowing pink IR's for a booster is cool! For their EVP sessions they use a variety of Olympus and Sony digital voice recorders. They also routinely deploy two hand held camcorder's in the field at all times. One of their newer techniques, first used in October of 2010, is their 100MW (532nm) High Powered Green Laser grid. They set this up in a hot spot room and just all the DVR cameras to observe. If anything moves between the laser and the surrounding walls, they capture this on video.

INPR strives to stay on the leading edge of tech for their investigations. They are doing extensive testing with the iOvilus. To this point they have had some amazing results with it so far. They plan to compile all data for this project into a research paper for use by other teams and paranormal researchers.
