It was reported by the Huffington Post on Feb. 28, 2013 that an In-N-Out cook spilled some secrets of what takes place at the fast food chain restaurant after hours.
In-N-Out is one of the loved fast food restaurant chains, and has received a lot of press of late with the owner Lynsi Torres being the youngest female billionaire, and her choosing not to expand her store at this time to ensure food quality.
Also after the Academy Awards director Ang Lee instead of celebrating his Oscar win at one of the lavish celebratory parties held Oscar night, he decided he just wanted to relax and buy a big In-N-Out burger while still holding on to his Oscar he just won.
Now a cook who goes by “dravila9” from In-N-Out Arizona store leaked out some information to reddit.com. In a forum on reddit.com called “Ask Me Anything” dravila9 revealed that he and his colleagues would create their own menu with what’s in the kitchen after store hours.
Some of the things dravila9 created he said was a “bacon burger and animal fries topped with torn up burger patties and bacon, smothered in Famous Dave’s BBQ sauce”.
Another one of his creations he said is a donut he made by squirting milkshake syrup on a bun and frying it, along with his super baked potato that he cores the potatoes, and fries them and then fills it with chopped burger patties, melted cheese, onions, chilies and tomatoes.
All of these concoction dravila9 says he and his colleagues create after hours when the store closed.
However dravila9 gives his most praise to the chili dogs he serves at the In-N-Out yearly family picnic. He believes if In-N-Out added this chili dog to the menu that the world wouldn’t be able to handle it because he says “it’s out of this world”.
In-N-Out has a sure proven menu that has worked for 65 years and are not interested in expanding, franchising, selling and most certainly not interested in adding anything new to their menu.
The reason In-N-Out doesn’t offer chicken, fish or any other food items than what they currently have on their menu is because the restaurant is satisfied with exceling in simple foods that they offer and have perfected over the years.
It should be noted that although dravila9 and his colleagues would experiment with cooking up their own menu after hours at the store, all his answers to the questions from reddit.com was in support of In-N-Out and why it’s been successful for over six decades and counting.
However he did say that the sauce that is loved is “just thousand islands with some unicorn jazz”.
Dravila9 noted that workers everyday receive clean shirts and aprons so they don’t have the burden of washing their dirty work clothes.
In-N-Out is known as one of few fast food restaurants that compensate their employees well with starting pay of $10 per hour for someone starting at the bottom.
The company provides their part-timers dental, vision and life insurance. Their full-time employees receive all that the part-time employees receive, as well as disability insurance.
Manager at In-N-Out receive $120,000 annually according 2012 states labor board report which is sufficiently higher than what most fast food restaurants pay their managers which is about $48,000 annually.
