In part one, I mentioned the importance of flowers. Mother’s Day is most popular holiday for giving flowers as a gift. But, just because Mother’s Day has come and gone, does not rule out planting flowers for one’s own enjoyment.

PLANTMEcards does offer a unique way of doing just that. To learn more about this unique gift idea, check out this link:

It is interesting to discover that a team of researchers explored the link between flowers and life satisfaction in a 10-month study of participants’ behavioral and emotional responses to receiving flowers. The following results show that flowers are a natural and healthful mood lifter:

  • Flowers have an immediate impact on happiness. All study participants expressed excitement upon receiving flowers. This reaction was universal, occurring in all age groups.
  • Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. Specifically, study participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction.
  • Flowers make an intimate connection. The presence of flowers led to increased contact with family and friends.

Common sense has always dictated that flowers make us happy! Now, current research shows that flowers do make us happier and have strong positive effects on our emotional well-being, whether they come from a florist or we grow our own.
