On Mother’s Day, I always made sure that Mother had fresh-cut flowers. Now, that did not mean they were purchased from a florist. Sometimes, they were picked from a nearby field and arranged for Mother in a lovely vase.

However, Mother never really liked receiving flowers. She preferred a pack of seeds to grow her own. Mother explained the joy is in the expectation. She loved to see flowers grow.
