In memory of Mother: Preventing brain illness through food part four

As mentioned in part three, salmon was too expensive for our household. However, Mother bought turkey. As many of our neighbors, we ate turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas. During the year, Mother bought sliced turkey for sandwiches throughout the year, only when it was on sale. Mother would have purchased it more often or buy turkey parts sold in the store on a more regular basis if she had known what eating turkey does for one’s brain.

Turkey is high in protein, which helps one stay alert and aids concentration. It also contains taurine, an acid that is thought to calm and stabilize the brain.
