In memory of Mother: Daddy's limeade health benefits part two

Daddy’s recipe for making limeade is by combining 1/3 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Cool.

Next, add the juice of six limes. Fill six tall glasses with crushed ice and pour equal portions of lime juice-sugar water mixture into each glass. Add water to fill.

Now, that’s not how I make it. My method for making limeade was quite by accident and I will share this method in part three. But, for now, here are more health benefits of lime juice:

  • Lime juice is effective in the treatment of cystitis, inflammation of the urinary bladder. A teaspoonful of lime should be put in 180 gm. of boiling water. Allow to cool and 60 gm of this water should be given every two hours. It gives relief to the burning sensation and also stops bleeding in cystitis.
  • Lime juice is excellent for weight reduction. Consume the juice before every meal. It will reduce the weight in two to three months.
  • Lime juice can help prevent gout and relieve gout symptoms. Gout is caused by accumulation of uric acid in the body, lime juice may taste acidic but when taken internally it is alkaline which helps neutralize the acid in the body.
  • Limes make a wonderful sedative for people who are always angry and stress. I believe it helps those individuals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder like Daddy.
