In memory of Deborah Barkan Silver, my beautiful mom

Yesterday was my mom's first birthday since she left this earthly realm on Independence Day, July 4. A number of signs came that showed me she was so very happy to be remembered by people I know, including those who like to read this column.

So in her honor, here is the Examiner article that I published last November when my dad Abe transitioned to join her just four months after she went. Many of you may remember it. I remember feeling so unbelievably relieved that Dad would finally be together with her again.

I bow to each of them as the perfect forms of the Divine I have needed this life. I do believe they have brought the exact lessons, sometimes easy, sometimes incredibly painful, that I've been needing this time around. And isn't it so for us all?

So I offer this again with love and deep, deep gratitude to them both.

And happy birthday to my Pisces Tiger Mom.

I love you.

I know you're right there, watching and helping.

Thank you again and again for all your help.

You were the best mom I could have ever dreamed up.
