In less than a week the Knowles-Carter camp squash the family drama

This time last week everyone was all up in a tizzy about the elevator fight heard (and seen) 'round the world! Social media exploded with speculation about why Beyonce's sister Solange would attack husband Jay Z. Of course it hit the celebrity gossip realm with reports from Wendy Williams among others, but even real news reporters were covering this one.

In case you missed it: Jay Z attacked by Beyonce's sister Solange.

The couple are infamously private and this was their first real scandal. But they even handled this in typical Jay Z and Beyonce fashion. They went on with their lives, going to a basketball like they usually do that same night the video was released. Then they let everyone speculate and guess and talk it out to death until everyone was frankly tired of talking (and hearing) about it. Then they released a statement.

As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false,” the statement continued. “At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.

The great thing about the statement is it did not absolve either Jay Z or Solange of fault. And basically just said they have family issues just like everyone else and they work it out and get over it just like everyone else. There are rumors about Solange being upset that Jay Z wanted to go to Rihanna's after party instead of going home with his wife that night, but the statement doesn't address that rumor. The one rumor it did squash, however, was the one about Solange being drunk.

But even after the release of the public statement, they continue to say "Move on!" by releasing the all-star movie trailer/music video for their On the Run song and tour. But we should not be surprised at all. Jay Z released his album with a Samsung competition and Beyonce released her self-titled album that was kept completely secret until she posted it one random Friday on Instagram and Tumblr. So this couple is all about business and keeping family matters private and they are always strategic when it comes to releasing their work! Kudos to them for ushering us all past Solangegate and back to the music.

What do you think? Are you over Solangegate and ready to move on?
