Triple shows at The Art Center in Highland Park present extraordinary works in glass, works by Dutch artist Bert Menco and Day of the Dead expressions, now through Nov. 3, 2013
Enter from the front to see Shayna Leib’s “Simiter,” an interpretation of wind and water moving through field grasses and animal fur in the “Expressions in Contemporary Glass” exhibit.
Artists in this exhibit range from Oben Abright, Dale Chihuly and Christina Bothwell to JP Long, Clifford Rainey and Janusz Walentynowicz. Also in the exhibit are stunning works by Philip Baldwin, Monica Guggisberg, Martin Blank, Daniel Clayman, Katja Fritzsche, Gregory Grenon, Mira Mayhlor, Youko Sano and Harue Shimomot.
Or come in from the side entrance and walk up to “Dia de los Muertos,” a small but choice exhibit featuring Jody Kroll Rotblatt’s eye-catching “From Dust Thou Art” bas relief.
The exhibit has fine works by Tim Arroyo, James DeWitt, Pauline Fernandez, Nona C. Flores, Evelin Garza Luna, Drew Hagen, Cora Jacobs, John Michael Korpal, Victoria Marchio, Valerie McCune, Hallie Redman, Donna Wesley Spencer, Cheryl Steiger, Natalie Steinmetz and L. Skip Weise.
Along a side corridor are impressive etchings by Bert Menco. His paintings, drawings and intaglio prints are featured as “Dutch-Chicago, Interactions” in a gallery to the side of the front entryway.
Menco will talk about his work Oct. 3, 2013 at 7 p.m.
